Iran, Austria to Counter US Sanctions: Der Standard Newspaper

Following US’ withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Tehran and Vienna want to counter US sanctions against Iran by strengthen their economic relations, an Austrian newspaper reported.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is due to sign a number of cooperation agreements with Austrian side including in transportation and managing water sectors, the Austrian der Standard newspaper cited the Chancellor office.

According to the report, Iranian president will meet his Austrian counterpart and the Chancellor and address the so-called “Austria-Iran: the prospects of economic relations” at Austrian Chamber of Commerce.

Austrian president and the Chancellor have reportedly insisted on their supports for preserving the JCPOA, the newspaper also reported.
